How does SmartShelter|Media work?

SmartShelter|Media - Protection for your Audio and Video files

You want to sell audio data and video data to your customers? And you want to protect them against illegal distribution? With the new product SmartShelter|Media you can securely protect your audio and video files against unauthorized reproduction. SmartShelter|Media supports amongst others the formats MPEG, MP3, AVI and WAV.

How does SmartShelter|Media work exactly? First start the application “SmartShelter Archive Tool.” With this tool you choose your media file, enter your license parameters and it will create an encrypted archive file. Done! The media file is completely encrypted with the CodeMeter technology and so it is unusable for other applications.

Only the SmartShelter Media Player is able to play the encrypted media. Therefore you need the encrypted archive file and a CodeMeter stick with the correct license. The encrypted file is read block by block, decrypted with CodeMeter, and played back with the SmartShelter Media Player. With this method the whole video or audio file will never be stored completely in the memory. As soon as CodeMeter is plugged off, the playback will be interrupted. You can also easily use the video files in full-screen mode.

You can of course combine the playback license with the many options of CodeMeter, like for example setting a maximum usability period of a license or limiting the usage with a unit counter.
